"If you go down to the woods today"...The Templeton Shelter

We have recently erected the steelwork frame for what is The Templeton Shelter.

Working for Dundee City Council we were commissioned to fabricate and install the framework for the buiding on behalf of the Countryside Ranger Service.

Sited deep within the stunning Templeton Woods on the outskirts of Dundee, it is envisaged that The Templeton Shelter will not only funtion as a shletered space within the woods but will act as an educational facility. The shelter can be used as an 'outside classroom' for school pupils and Scout and Guide groups etc. to learn about and appreciate close-up the wildlife, trees and plants that abound within Templeton Woods.

Outfield Farm Cabins....unique, stunning, tranquil holiday accommodation.

We have recently completed an interesting project set amidst some fabulous local scenery.

Law Park Properties commissioned P&G to fabricate and erect the structural steelwork for theirOutfield-Farm-Cabins-3.jpg
"Cabins" that are set to offer outstanding views amidst the Abernyte countryside.

Tim Stobbs from Law Park Properties was delighted with the input from P&G to the project:

"Thank you both for all your advice, effort, ideas, experience and enthusiasm without which this
would never have happened."

We are pleased to now see the completed Cabins in place on their steelwork and we are sure this new addition to Outfield Farm's exciting self-catering lets will be a
huge success.

See What's On...New Ad Columns Popping Up

In a further development to our Street Furniture range, we have been busy installing the latest version of our popular Advertising Columns.

Commisioned by Dundee City Council, we have worked in partnership to design, specify and create these striking structures.

These latest versions not only look great during the day but because they have a lighting system around the top they are even more striking during the evening. Powered by an innovative solar panel system built into the top, these lighted columns are not only visually effective but cost effective to power.

Various sites throughout Dundee City centre have been chosen to site these columns, with large foot-fall these locations will see many locals as well as visitors to the city kept informed as to "what's on".

We have been working hard at P&G to get these columns fabricated and then to begin installation ready for poster application as you can see from the images below.

The "Seagull Safe" Litter Bin

We have developed a novel "Seagull Safe" additional element for our range of litter bins. These deterent red funnel shaped additions are fitted to bins to discourage gulls from feeding from the waste containers.

Many areas are blighted by litter being pulled out of bins by the birds as they search for an easy meal and we have responded to this problem by introducing this design led addition.

The "Seagull Safe" additional element are red because it is thought that gulls are discouraged by the colour.

These "Seagull Safe" bins have been installed by Dundee City Council to address a particular problem scenic area and it is hoped the problem could become something of the past with the trial rollout of these bins.

Rack Your Brains...

Local youngsters have racked their brains to come up with some striking new designs for cycle parking for our streets throughout the Dundee area.

Last year, Dundee Cycling Forum teamed up with the Unesco City of Design team to launch the Rack Your Brains contest for young people.

Primary schools, youth groups and individual children submitted designs inspired by shapes, patterns, plants, animals and Dundee itself, with the winning ideas taken all the way through the design and production process with the help of P&G Blacksmiths.

The designers behind the winning bike racks were finally able to see them at P&G’s Fairfield Road workshop. Each design has now been manufactured and installed.

David Martin, vice-chairman of the cycling forum, said: “This competition celebrates Dundee as a Unesco City of Design and helps make the mundane magnificent.”

Picture above shows, back, from left: David Martin, designer Kirsten MacGregor-Manzi, Gary Carling, of P&G Blacksmiths, and John Whyman of Dundee City Council. Front: Drew Marr and Alfie Park, both 11, Amina Nassir, 12, and Finlay Smith, 11, from P7B at Blackness Primary who designed the cycle racks.

The finished designs can be seen installed in various locations in the following images.
